The Bishop of the Owo Anglican Diocese, Stephen Fagbemi, has lashed out at the lawmaker representing the Owo/Ose federal constituency, Timehin Adelegbe, accusing him of being inaccessible.

According to the Bishop, since his emergence as the lawmaker representing the constituency almost six years ago, Adelegbe had been inaccessible to his people.

Fagbemi, who stated this during a church programme at the Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew, Imola Owo, headquarters of Owo Local Council Area of Ondo State, stressed that the constituents of the lawmaker had been complaining about him.

“You have not been accessible to those that voted for you since you went to Abuja. Your number is no longer available again.

“Please let your number be available whenever we call you. Your phone is only reachable now that you’re in the church. Please let your number be accessible after you leave this church,” the clergyman said.

The Bishop, in the same vein, hailed Adelegbe’s counterpart, Adegboyega Adefarati, who is representing Akoko South East/Akoko South West Federal Constituency, for his commitment to the betterment of his people.

While urging political office holders to always keep to their electoral promises to their constituents, the cleric emphasised that Adefarati’s constituents have good testimony of his performance, adding that he is accessible to them.

However, responding to Fagbemi’s comments, Adelegbe accused the clergyman of hatred, adding that he wants to tarnish his reputation.

Speaking through his media aide, Olaniyi Eni-Olotu, the lawmaker said, “One would expect a message of love, truth, and unity from the altar of God, not one borne out of shared hatred and aimed primarily at tarnishing someone’s image without just cause.

“One would have preferred to ignore the statement, but due to the need to set the record straight, especially since it was made by a highly respected clergyman during his church service, it must be addressed.
