The Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Vincent Ado Tenebe, at the weekend said two new schools have been created in the Institution.
Tenebe, who disclosed this in an address read by the director in charge of special study centre for Nigerian Immigration, Emmanuel Umeh, during the 11th matriculation ceremony of the University in Abuja, said the new schools include Agricultural Sciences and Health Sciences.
He explained that the new schools were approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) after NOUN had followed the necessary procedures, as well as due process.
According to him, the University has enlarged its general studies programmes to include Communication and Information Technology (CIT) and General Studies courses.
He said that his administration would continue to give priority attention to the education of the students at all times, even as he urged the students to make good use of their study materials and other learning avenues to excel in their academic pursuit.
The vice Chancellor also revealed that a total of two hundred and forty-six (246) students, ranging from Undergraduates, Masters as well as Post Graduate Diploma students matriculated in this year’s academic session.
