Operation Whirl Stroke vows to arrest dreaded criminal, Gana

Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Adeyemi Yekini has expressed the determination of the Nigerian Military to track, apprehend and bring to justice the dreaded criminal Terwase Akwaza popularly known as Gana.
Maj. Gen. Yekini stated this yesterday at the Nigeria Airforce Tactical Command, Makurdi during a press briefing.
He maintained that at the moment, spirited and indefatigable efforts are ongoing to ascertain the current status and whereabouts of the notorious militia leader.
He said two (2) members of Gana’s men were captured during last weekend operation while another who later confessed to killing former Senior Assistant to Governor Samuel Ortom on Special Security Denen Igbana two (2) years, was apprehended by troops of 93 Battalion towards Taraba State.
“During the early hours of Saturday 16 June, 2018 following a tip off, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke in conjunction with 72 and 93 Battalion soldiers attacked the camp of notorious militia leader Gana located at Ayaka in Katsina-Ala located government area. Prior to the attack, NAF MI 35 gunship helicopter carried out aerial bombardment of the camp which led to the successful dislodgement of Gana and his armed men.
“On the ensuing melee, our troop recovered some personal effects of Gana suggesting that he was around the camp at the time of the attack.
During a search of the camp, troops recovered one gun, one pistol, 7 rounds of 7.62 mm 9mm special ammunition.
According to him, the search covered about 40 kilo meters radius of the camp including wooded areas leading to Rivers Yoyo and Katsina-Ala, intimating in the course of the mopping up operation, troops recovered quantity 10 magazines of AK47 but there was still no trace of Gana or any of his armed men within the area been combed.
