Principal Special Assistant to the Governor of Benue State on Government House Administration, Hon.James Anbua, at the weekend escaped assassination attempt at his country home, Tse-Girgi, Mbavuur, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Hon. Anbua who confirmed this in a telephone conversation with our correspondent yesterday, said, the assailants who numbered five, came to his residence at about 1am shooting sporadically.
He said the policemen in his house repelled the gunmen but they succeeded in stealing his cattle and sheep.
“They shot several bullets at my house but the Policemen repelled them. They didn’t injure anyone but took away 17 cows and 9 sheep”, Anbua said.
The attack, it was learnt came barely 10 hours after Dr. Anbua gave out his daughter in a traditional marriage in his country home.
It was gathered that the incident has since been reported to the Police Divisional office in the area.
The attempt also, came barely two (2) weeks after Governor Ortom’s Senior Special Assistant on Security retired Assistant Inspector Generalof Police Christopher Dega was murdered in Jos.
As at the time of filing this report, the Police were yet to confirm the incident. The State Command Spokesperson DSP Catherine Anene sent a text message which simply read,’ I can’t talk now’ when our correspondent called her phone. She also, did not reply to the text message sent to her phone.
