From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

Immediate past Governor of Benue State Chief Samuel Ortom has frowned at the continuous blackmail and lies told about him after leaving office almost a year.
This is just as he urged Governor Hyacinth Alia to sheath his sword and find ways to work with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF Sen. George Akume for the development of the State.
Chief Ortom who gave the advice on Tuesday in Makurdi at the celebration of his 63rd birthday, said those advising the Governor to be at daggers drawn with the the SGF, do not have the interest of the State.
He said leaders should always be open to advise, adding that it is the responsibility of the Governor to do the needful so that the State will be at peace.
“The Governor alone cannot do this, it requires all of us to support him. If called upon, I will give the necessary support to make things work. We all have a responsibility to pray and advise our leaders.
“I appreciate the Governor for his message wherein he described me as a statesman. I want to appreciate the Benue people for the opportunity given to me to serve the State for eight years. What I did was was in the spirit of equity, fairness and justice.
“For those whom I offended and offended me, I have forgiven them. I appeal to you all to team up with President Tinubu, the SGF and the Governor for growth of our State and nation”.
