Governor Uba Sani has reaffirmed his commitment to building a state where diversity is not just recognized but embraced as a source of strength, allowing every citizen to pursue a life of dignity and opportunity.
Speaking as the Chief Host at the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Nigeria Aid Group of Islam, Jama’atu Nasril Islam, on Saturday, the Governor emphasized that his vision is rooted in unity, peace, and sustainable development.
He highlighted that this commitment has guided his administration’s focus on enhancing security, restoring public confidence, and facilitating free movement across communities that have previously been affected by fear.
Governor Uba Sani commended the vision of the founding fathers of the Aid Group, particularly the late Sultan of Sokoto, Sir Abubakar III; the late Emir of Katsina, Sir Usman Nagogo; the late Sheikh Abubakar Gummi; and Shattiman Katsina, Alhaji Muhammadu Ali Kaita.
“They understood, with rare clarity, that the strength of faith is measured not only by devotion but also by service to humanity,” he stated.
“For five decades, this organization has upheld that principle, advancing education, healthcare, social welfare, and community development, thereby touching lives across religious, ethnic, and social lines,” he added.
He noted that the role of the Nigerian Aid Group of Islam, JamaNigeriansril Islam, alongside similar organizations, in coordinating Hajj operations serves as a powerful symbol of discipline, unity, and organizational excellence.
“Over the years, the Group has evolved into a professional institution distinguished by its advocacy efforts, public awareness campaigns, and disaster management initiatives,” he said.
Governor Uba Sani also reminded attendees that his administration has established three Institutes of Vocational Training and Skills Development, which train 32,000 youths annually, preparing them for productive futures.
He expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Aid Group for honoring him with the title of Patron and stated that he received the award of Excellence with humility. He emphasized that this honor is not a personal distinction but a recognition of their collective commitment to compassion, inclusion, and development.
During the event, the Secretary General of JNI, Professor Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, thanked Governor Uba Sani for hosting the gathering.
“Our organization is the first uniformed first aid voluntary organization in Nigeria, and it has grown stronger without any friction or internal crises,” he noted.
He added that the Aid Group has a presence in all 36 states and Abuja, earning a reputation for providing timely and efficient assistance to those in need.
“Over the years, we have achieved significant milestones, including the establishment of schools, hospitals, and various developmental projects. We have also been at the forefront of promoting interfaith dialogue,” he remarked.
The Political Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, donated N100 million, along with an additional N50 million from his mother, highlighting the transformative role of the Aid Group in youth development. He urged the youth to avoid drug abuse, which has become a major driver of crime, radicalization, and the breakdown of social order, emphasizing that no nation can prosper when its youth are deviating from the right path.
Chief Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, donated N100 million. At the same time, the Governor of Yobe State, represented by his Deputy, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, contributed N50 million.
