The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has explained that a total of ninety three thousand, four hundred and eighty six Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for those registered as from 27th of April of last year to January this year are printed and ready for collection in Bauchi State.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, stated this over the weekend in Bauchi, while addressing newsmen on the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards and the 2018 Continuous Voter Registration exercise in the state.
He advised political parties to conduct their political activities within the ambits of the law and to participate actively in the pre electoral processes.
Abdullahi said when political parties abide by the commission’s guidelines; it would contribute to the development of democracy in Nigeria.
The REC said that already, the commission in the state has commenced the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards since last month in all the twenty Local Government Area Offices of the Commission and other designated registration centers.
Abdullahi reminded all eligible citizens in Bauchi State, who have not registered themselves as voters to do so to enable them participate fully in the next year’s general elections.
On the bye election expected to be conducted in Bauchi South Senatorial District over the death of late Senator Mallam Ali Wakili, the REC said the commission will conduct the bye election after Sallah “ if Senate declared the seats vacant, INEC will conduct the election within one month”, he added.
