Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has described his re-election victory as not only an endorsement of his administration’s performance but also a vote of confidence in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking to party supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, Oyebanji said the achievements recorded by his administration over the past four years were made possible by the support and resources provided by the Federal Government under President Tinubu.
According to the governor, the outcome of the governorship election demonstrates that residents of Ekiti State appreciate both his administration’s efforts and the policies of the Tinubu-led government.
“As far as I am concerned, what happened yesterday is a validation of our performance by the Ekiti people. But not only in Ekiti State. It is a vote of confidence in the President,” he said.
Oyebanji secured a second term in office after polling 319,224 votes in Saturday’s governorship election.
The governor pledged to use the renewed mandate to accelerate development projects and implement policies aimed at improving the welfare and prosperity of the people of the state.
He assured residents that his administration would intensify efforts to deliver on its development agenda, promising greater focus on ongoing projects and programmes.
Oyebanji also highlighted what he described as unique features of the election, including the support he received from former governors of the state and the peaceful conduct of the electoral process.
He noted that the election campaign was conducted without any reported incidents of violence, describing it as a reflection of political maturity and unity among stakeholders.
The governor further took a swipe at opposition parties, arguing that electoral victories are earned through performance in office rather than social media campaigns and political rhetoric.
According to him, the election result serves as proof that voters ultimately judge leaders based on their record in governance and service delivery.
While acknowledging that opposition parties may challenge the outcome, Oyebanji maintained that the result reflected the genuine will of the people and their assessment of his administration’s performance over the last four years. The meeting marks one of the most visible demonstrations of unity by the party’s top leadership in recent weeks and is expected to fuel further discussions about the NDC’s political strategy ahead of future elections.
