Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has highly commended security forces following a successful operation that led to the recovery of hundreds of rustled livestock, weapons, and ammunition from bandits in the state.
The breakthrough was achieved by the newly active Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the Zamfara State Police Command during a fierce encounter in the Gambanda forest, located within the Gummi Local Government Area.
During the tactical raid, police operatives engaged and successfully overpowered a group of bandits.
In a statement issued by his Spokesperson, Suleiman Bala Idris, Governor Lawal described the police command’s renewed tactical offensive as highly encouraging and full of promise for ending the state’s security challenges.
“I commend the effort of all the security operatives in Zamfara State, especially the Zamfara State Police Command, for its resilience, bravery, and commitment in recovering 329 cattle, 175 sheep, weapons, and ammunition from bandits,”Lawal stated.
The Governor emphasized that the swift action directly protected the fragile livelihoods of local farmers and herders who are constantly targeted by criminal elements.
The governor particularly singled out the state’s police leadership for praise, tying the success of the forest raid to structured strategic planning.
He noted that the Commissioner of Police’s strong leadership and tactical guidance have been instrumental in steadily improving public safety and modernizing the state’s anti-banditry operations.
Reaffirming his administration’s stance, Lawal assured that the Zamfara State Government remains fully committed to providing logistical, financial, and operational support to all security agencies working to restore absolute peace.
