Unknown gunmen yesterday night shot an islamic scholar identified as Malam Muhammed Usman Muhammed at his residence located along Kwoi Close in Tudun Wada Kaduna.
The shooting made residents of the area to run for safety when they heard sounds of gun shots.
The incident, according to reports from the area, occurred few minutes to 8pm.
Sources in the area said the gunmen went to the scholar’s house in a Golf car, five of them two ladies and three men, and attacked him. Reports said his attackers met him when he was coming out of his car and opened fire on him after which they entered their vehicle and fled.
“Malam returned home in the evening in his 406 Peugeot car and was outside when some men came in a Golf with two ladies in the car and shot him,” a source said, in a telephone interview.
Although not much detail came out from the area, Peoples Daily gathered that the sound of gunshots made many residents of the area to remain indoors.
Confirming the incidence, State Command Public Relations Officer, SP Aminu Lawan said the scholar was rushed to the hospital by the police.
According to him, the victim was taken to intensive care unit at an undisclosed hospital, saying they are waiting to hear from the doctors if he is dead or not.
At the time of filing this report, no confirmation from the hospital whether he is dead or not.
