The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), National Assembly Chapter, yesterday said the appointment of Arc Amos Ojo Olatunde as acting Clerk of National Assembly, implies dawn of a new era for better welfare packages for both parliamentary workers and legislative aides to federal lawmakers.
Chairman of the National Assembly Chapter of the Association, Comrade Sunday Sabiyi, made the declaration while fielding questions from journalists after receiving Award from Youth Initiative for Peace and Good Governance (YIPGG).
According to him, unlike running battles PASAN and the National Assembly Legislative Aides Forum (NASSLAF), had with the immediate past CNA, Mohammad Sani-Omolori, over better condition of services, such agitations will not happen under the present CNA being a run of the mill bureaucrat.
“The Combination of the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and Arch Olatunde as political and administrative leaders of the National Assembly, will bring about required harmonious working relationship between the leadership and the led.
“The new Clerk in particular, as seasoned technocrat and productivity rewarding administrator, will ensure that all parliamentary workers get all their deserved entitlements at all times”, he said.
He added that required cooperation from the entire members of PASAN, will also be given to the new leadership of the National Assembly administratively and legislatively.
On the Award bestowed on him by YIPGG, the PASAN Chairman said it will spur him to work harder not only for upliftment of the National Assembly, but Nigeria generally through collective collaboration with Nigerian Youths.
He said “To you, the youths, I wish to take this opportunity to thank you and implore you to always choose the path of peace, reconciliation and integrity in all that you do. Remember, whatever we do today shall be used in our favour or against us tomorrow”.
He therefore tasked the youths to key into the evergreen epigram of John Kennedy, by not asking what their country can do for them alone, but what they can also do for their country.
