PDP convention: Wike’s faction warns members to stay away from Ibadan

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT) Nyesom Wike, has called on members across the country to boycott the planned national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The faction insisted that a new court order had invalidated the process.
Peoples Daily reports that this comes against the backdrop of a suit filed by former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido, which produced a court pronouncement that the Wike bloc says has introduced fresh legal uncertainty over the convention.
The Acting National Youth Leader of the faction, Timothy Osadolor, stated that the party cannot legitimately proceed with the Ibadan gathering until its internal disputes are resolved and stakeholders agree on the next steps.
“Well, I’ve told you before. What they are doing in Ibadan is just an early Christmas party. But again, even the early Christmas parties are still not going to hold,” he said.
According to him, the ruling secured earlier on Tuesday further discredited the event.
“I’m sure you are aware of the court pronouncements from the suit filed by former Governor Sule Lamido earlier today. That has also told them that the early Christmas party is not even properly constituted and organised,” he added.
The PDP youth leader urged party members nationwide not to risk travel or spend money attending an exercise he insisted has no legal or organisational foundation.
