A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Hashim Gbenga Olawepo has expressed the optimism that the leadership crisis rocking the party will end at the court of appeal.
Olawepo said this while reacting to the the Monday’s judgement of the
Court of Appeal which directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, not to accord any recognition to the November 15 and 16 last year’s elective national convention of the PDP in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, that produced the Dr Tanimu Kabiru Turaki-led
National working Committee of the party among others.
Another faction of the court, which is being led Senator Samuel Anyawu and Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, is believed to be loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT Mr Nyesom Wike.
Hashim disclosed on Monday that the leaders of the two factions within the party have agreed in principle to unite and harmonise positions in all the talks and negotiations they have heard.
According to him, “This is a family quarrel that must now end at the appeal court.
“Leaders on both sides have agreed in principle to unite and harmonise positions in all the talks and negotiations we have heard.
“We trust that this unity would be achieved by the Grace of God.
“Nigerians earnestly expect this and posterity demands it”, he said.
