Governors forum of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by it’s Chairman and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has donated the sum of N100 million to the victims affected by recent fire accident of Tudun Wada Central market in Gusau.
Presenting the donation, Governor Tambuwal of Sokoto and forum’s Chairman, condemned the recent sympathy visit by the ruling APC Governors forum to the state, challenging that, “They had never paid any visit when innocent lives were unfortunately consumed by the lingering banditry.
“Where were they (APC Governors Forum) when female students of Jangebe were abducted, and thousands of innocent lives were killed by merciless bandits exactly the time when affected families and the governments were in desperate need of their attentions.
“It is because, now that they are looking for cheap political point to achieve, that they mobilized and paid visit in the name of commiseration to the government and good people of the state, have they forgotten that the insecurity in Zamfara was initially triggered by their carelessness”, Tambuwal has further challenged.
Also speaking, the governor of Rivers state, Nyeson Wike said “I can’t understand a party which declared Zamfara a ‘no fly zone’ is coming to woe the governor, Zamfara people should shine their eyes because God who destined Matawalle as a Governor has not abandoned him.
“Do not lose sleep in Zamfara, we shall overcome, and we should not forget that Matawalle met the problem of insecurity and is not as if it started when he became on board, so nobody can come and use insecurity to intimidate the him or any other Governor especially the beloved PDP flag bearer,” Wike has stressed.
Governor Wike further described the N50 million donation given by the APC Governor’s forum recently when they paid a sympathy visit to Zamfara as a ‘Greek gift’ therefore urged Governor Matawalle not to receive the opposition team henceforth in the name of commiseration again.
Responding, Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle expressed happiness with the visit by the PDP Governor’s forum which he also described as timely pertaining the main purpose of the visit.
Recalled when the APC Governors forum paid a sympathy visit few days ago, Governor Matawalle has cried that, none of the PDP leaders and or members cared to either called him in regard to the incident of fire outbreak.
Matawalle noted how close he has been with Governor Aminu Tambuwal with whom he had a long history upon cordial relationship dating back to their times at the House of Representatives.
He said a crying child abandoned by his mother is likely to take food even from a street beggar, “so, they said sorry and l on behalf of the good people of the state have forgiven and accept,” Matawalle said.
The other visiting governors include, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Nyeson Wike of Rivers, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Darius Ishaku of Taraba and Ahmad Umar Fintiri of Adamawa.
