‘Peaceful APC National Convention shows stakeholders resolve to forge united party’

The chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) in kogi State, Abdullahi Bello, has said the outcome of the Party’s national convention held in Abuja is an indication that the party stakeholders are willing to forge a united platform that can win elections at any time.

In a statement he issued yesterday, Bello also appreciated the show of love and goodwill demonstrated to the Governor of kogi State, Yahaya Bello, during his declaration for the President of Nigeria.

“The state party chairman wish to congratulate party faithfuls for the successful conduct of the party National Convention, the convention outcome has demonstrated beyond all doubts our resolve to forge a united and strong party

“I want to further appreciate the goodwill and show of love to our leader, the amiable Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on his presidential declaration; hope has come for all of us, President Yahaya Bello is coming.

“The state Party leadership by this medium Wish to inform all stakeholders that at no time was any aspirant to any office endorsed, chosen or imposed. No anointed Candidate to any elective office in the Next General Election of 2023”, the statement said.

The party also encouraged every eligible member who wished to contest for any position to come all out, present themselves to the party members and convince them of their suitability for such office.

“The All progressive Congress is a political party anchored on progressivism philosophy, it is a party with a hallmark of internal democracy, a party of equal opportunity, the playing field is level for all; the rules will be applied equally, no one will be favoured nor will anyone be disadvantaged, the party has no preferred candidate for any office what so ever.

“Prelude to the General Election, our candidates will emerge from the process approved by the constitution of the party and the electoral law, the law is clear on the mode of primaries for political parties to choose their candidates for the elections; we have direct and indirect primary and consensus option as spelt out, however, it is the tradition of our party to encourage consensus candidate among the aspirants themselves where practicable, this is to minimize misgivings, but the party will never impose any candidate for any elective office(s).
