The Plateau State House of Assembly has dissolved the Management Committee Chairmen of all the seventeen local government councils of the of the state following the extension of their tenure by one month which is expected to elapse this month end.
The committee chairmen who were appointed since July 2017, have had their tenure being extended by two months before it was finally dissolved yesterday.
Their previous tenure extension was a fallout of postponements of local government election by which the elected candidates would have replaced them.
The dissolution of the chairmen came during a yesterday’s plenary when member representing Mikang Constituency, Daniel Mikang, moved the motion for the dissolution of the chairmen and latet supported by Simon Kudu representing Bassa constituency.
However, the Majority Leader, Henry Yunkwap, sought for tenure extension and was supported by Hon.Ibrahim Baba Hassan representing Jos North North.
But the speaker later called for vote over the issue and 18 lawmakers voted in favour of the chairmen dissolution, one voted against it and one person abstained from the vote.
