The Plateau state Commander of the Special Task Force (STF), Major General David Enetie has said that the media report alleging that an helicopter had landed in a village called Mahanga in Barkin Ladi local government area of the state as well as 13 Hilux vans driven to the area was not true.
The commander was disputing the allegation yesterday while fielding questions from newsmen who had visited the alleged area together with the commander.
Enetie noted that the information he got earlier from the sub sector commander on ground as well as the two sectors commanders of Gashesh and Mahanga indicated that the it was just a rumour, saying that it should be discarded.
“The rumours wouldn’t have the chance of becoming reality, because we have redeployed enough security to cover the area.”
He frowned at the Barkin Ladi LGC chairman, who according to him did not report the issue to his office for necessary action, but went to the media in order to create tension in the mind of the people.
“This is not the first time that such rumours are been peddled, and I am just advising them to stop peddling the rumours,” Enetie appealed.
In his reaction to the development, the Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Riyom local government chapter, Isa Abdullahi, who spoke on behalf of the residence interviewed by news men, said it was not true that a Helicopter and Hilux vans have entered into the village.
“There isn’t a new face that has even came onto the community, all the people are seeing, are members of the community . It was this morning that we heard the chairman of Barkin Ladi local government council, saying over the radio that a helicopter has landed. It was a lie.
