Three young men were on Monday appear before an Enugu North Magistrates’ Court, charged with kidnapping three women while in possession of a rifle.
The accused were Chisom Akamogu, Chiwendu Enehelu and Ogochukwu Aniagbaoso.
Prosecutor Emma Akpa, told the court that the matter was reported to Abakpa Nike police station, on Aug. 19.
Akpa said that the accused persons kidnapped Salome Nwankwo, Chisom Okoroie and Uchechukwu Agu, while armed with an AK 47 rifle at different locations in Enugu.
“The accused were armed with an AK 47 riffle at Abakpa Nike where they kidnapped Nwakwo while Okorie and Agu were kidnapped at Amaugwu Iji Nike’’, he said.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 495(a) and 352 of the Criminal Code of Enugu state.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Akpa requested for an adjournment of the case to enable him come to the court with the case file.
The Magistrate, Mrs. J.N Okibe, said that the court could not hear the matter because the case file was not before the court and transferred it to Enugu East Magistrate Court. (NAN)
