The police in Osun yesterday arraigned a 33-year-old man, Tokede Tunde, in an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court over alleged fraud of N800, 000.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Oladele Joshua, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 8, 2013, at Alaba Meta area of Osogbo.
Joshua said the accused conspired with one person at large to defraud one Adeyemi Gbenga of the sum in the pretence of selling a vehicle to him.
He said the accused later denied receiving the money from Gbenga.
The prosecutor said the accused was arraigned a three-count charge of theft, conspiracy and fraud.
The offences, he said, contravened sections 516, 419 and 309 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The counsel to the accused, Mr. Lekan Bello, prayed the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr. Olusola Aluko, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Aluko said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction as well as have evidence of tax payment and an affidavit of means.
The case was adjourned till July 25 for mention. (NAN)
