Five notorious suspected rapists are now in police net for allegedly raping a female student of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, the victim, a female student of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro reported at the police station Ozoro, that one of the suspects invited her to escort him to Owhelegbo junction in Ozoro, to collect his handset. The victim added that on reaching the Junction, the suspect and four others raped her and thereafter photographed her while she was naked.
DSP Kalu said on receipt of the report, detectives swung into action and arrested the principal suspect. In a related development, police has gunned down a member of an armed robbery gang and recovered fire arm from the hoodlum.
Police spokesperson DSP Celestina Kalu, said mobile Policemen on duty behind Jugbale market, Ovwian Aladja heard gun shots near the market.
Consequently, they mobilized to the scene where five, armed men operating in the area on sighting the police men opened fire on them and in the ensuing gun duel one of the unidentified hoodlums was gunned down while others escaped with bullet wounds.
Items recovered from the deceased armed robber include a locally made cut to size gun and one live cartridge. Meanwhile, investigation is in progress while efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspects, she added.
In the same vein, police have recovered suspected stolen Vehicle.
DSP Kahi said patrol team on routine patrol along Benin/Onltsha express way, by former toll gate intercepted one Toyota Camry car with Reg. NO.WWR 403 AE with four occupants. On sighting the patrol team the driver of the Carmry car reversed and zoomed off.
