The Kwara State Police Command has intensified intelligence-led and proactive security operations across the state to prevent and combat banditry and other violent crimes.
This was contained in a press release issued and signed by SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer.
It noted that the renewed initiatives are in line with the strategic directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu.
The release announced that the Command has identified suspected criminal enclaves and supply routes, with tactical teams strategically deployed to disrupt criminal networks and deny them freedom of action.
It says enhanced visibility policing and targeted patrols have been reinforced across the three senatorial districts, particularly in vulnerable and high-risk areas, while specialized intelligence units have been activated to generate actionable intelligence.
The release disclosed that coordinated stop-and-search operations and covert surveillance are ongoing to preempt security threats throughout the state; most especially at state borders; to checkmate influx of bandits from neighbouring states.
It asserted that the Command is working closely with all the other security agencies in the state including the Nigeria forest security services, vigilante groups and local hunters through joint operation, information sharing and periodic security meetings.
The release says community engagement has been intensified through regular meetings with stakeholders like community leaders and religious leaders to build trust and enhance intelligence gathering
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, reassures residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, and urges members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information.
Members of the public are encouraged to report suspicious activities through the following contact lines: 0703 206 9501, 0812 527 5046.
