Police ready to tackle election security, says I-G

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba, on Monday, pledged the readiness of the force to tackle all security issues concerning the forthcoming general elections.

He made the pledge in a statement signed by the force Spokesman, Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu, an Acting Commissioner of Police, made available to newsmen in Abuja.

The inspector general also expressed the determination of the force to take “all lawful measures to ensure the safety of Nigerians at all times.’’

He said the police and other security agencies had deployed strategically nationwide to ensure that law abiding Nigerians go about their lawful businesses without fear and molestation.

Abba also assured those who had travelled for the New Year and Maulud celebrations of their safety and security as they return to their various destinations across the country. (NAN)
