No fewer than sixty one rape cases was recorded by the Jigawa State Police Command from January to December 2019.
This was disclosed by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Sule Gomna while briefing newsmen on the cases recorded by the command in the year under review.
He explained that, the command has also received fifty four reports of murder/ culpable homicide and 61 rape/ indecent assault among others within the year.
CP Gomna said a total of 588 different criminal offences where recorded during the year and all were charged to court except seven that are currently under investigation.
According to him, the cases include 13 unnatural offence, 32 armed robbery, 59 thrift/ stealing, 11 an lawful possession of arm and 119 fatal accidents.
CP Usman added the state police command in collaboration other sisters security agencies and general public succeeded in handling all the recorded cases which consequently help in maintaining peace and order in the state.
“ In 2020 the operation Fuff Adder in Jigawa State will strength its community policing through massive community engagement to bridge its manpower gaps and ensure security coverage to all communities across the state.”
The commissioner called on the general public to continue with support given to police by informing them about any suspicious movement in the community for timely action against criminals.
