The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 5,115 Police Inspectors to the rank of Assistant Superintendents of Police II.
A statement by the commission’s spokesperson, Ferdinand Ekpe, yesterday in Abuja, said among those promoted are 4,628 officers in general duties and 487 specialists.
The statement said the promoted officers were successful at the Departmental Selection Board interview, adding that all the promotions are with effect from December 31, 2013.
The Police Service commission said in the statement that the promotions were in line with its statutory functions of formulation and implementation of policies aimed at efficiency and discipline in the Nigeria Police Force.
The PSC Chairman, Dr. Mike Okiro, who congratulated the officers, admonished them to put in their very best in the discharge of their constitutional mandate of securing lives and property and urged them to imbibe the principles of modern policing.
