Police Trust Fund delivers 170 infrastructure projects nationwide

The Executive Secretary, the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), Alhaji Mohammed Sheidu, has reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force through sustained, needs-driven interventions across personnel welfare, training, and operational capacity.

Sheidu made the commitment on Wednesday when he led the NPTF management team on a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

He said the fund has so far delivered over 100 training programmes for more than 13,000 officers, executing over 170 infrastructure projects nationwide, and driving initiatives in housing, healthcare, and smart policing infrastructure.

The Executive Secretary said that the NPTF would strengthen operational readiness of the police by modernising its facilities and aligning all interventions aligned with the strategic priorities of the Force.

Responding, the IGP said that the visit has opened a platform for strategic dialogue aimed at deepening collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the NPTF in advancing ongoing reforms and sharpening operational effectiveness.

Disu made it clear that a stronger, more strategically aligned partnership with the NPTF is central to the Force’s reform agenda.

He identified personnel welfare as a non-negotiable priority, stating that improved housing, accessible healthcare, and prompt payment of insurance and welfare benefits are essential to sustaining morale, discipline, and operational effectiveness.

The IGP specifically called on the NPTF to initiate targeted welfare programmes for junior cadre who  carry the heaviest operational burdens and deserve structured, consistent support.

Disu reaffirmed his commitment to building a more responsive, technologically driven, and citizen-focused Nigeria Police Force through the partnership.
