The Jigawa state government in collaboration with National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), and support from United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has targeted 1,516,244 million children for November 2025 polio immunization exercise.
This was announced by the Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Management Agency, Dr. Shehu Sambo at the media dialogue organized by UNICEF in collaboration with the Jigawa State Government and NPHCDA, on the Polio Vaccination Campaign scheduled for November.
Dr Sambob who was represented by Dr Nura Ado Babura said the immunization exercise will commence on Saturday 29th November 2025 and will cover all the 27 local government area in the state.
He maintained that, about 2015 team of staff will conduct the exercise through house to house campaign.
While delivering his speech, Mr Rahama Rihood M. Farah, Chief of UNICEF Field Office Kano, urged the media to disseminate accurate information about polio vaccination and use various channels to mobilize caregivers, parents, communities and stakeholders to make children available for vaccination.
According to him, for this round, Nigeria is targeting 42 million Children in 21 priority states in two phases starting from 29th November 2025 till 9th December 2025.
He said, Jigawa will be part of Block A States+ FCT and the date for this round is from 29th November till 2nd December 2025 across all 288 wards and 27 LGAs.
