The National President Association for Public Policy Analysis, Comrade Prince Okorie has reacted to the statement credited to the Ohaneze Ndigbo warning that there would be consequences if the INEC manipulates the result of the presidential election in the south east.
He advised that unpeaceful and unhealthly consequences should not be contemplated at this time that elections have been held and results declared.
According to him the election have reflected the political learning of the states and zones as south east zone have shown that they are PDP focused while other states in other geopolitical zones have demonstrated their preference for APC or PDP.
The National President disclosed that the Ohaneze Ndigbo has a role to play in demanding accountability from all members of the national assembly from the south – east states that has been there since 2015, to know how many capital projects they have declared in their various Senatorial districts in the last four years.
He further queried why Ohaneze has not asked why some South East Governors refused to pay pensioners and civil servants irrespective of the bailout funds thy received from the federal government in the last four years.
Okorie is of the opinion that rather than plan protests and negative consequence over the results of the present elections Ohaneze should set up a team to set agenda for elected national assembly members in the current election to ensure that they deploy resources which will be appropriated for development of all constituencies for that purpose.
The National President regretted that Ndigbo has cried enough over marginalization and wrong treatment meted to their businessmen who operate in other zones of the country stating that it is time to use their legislative opportunities to mobilize resources for development of markets and industrial zones that would encourage Igbo investors and business men to invest in igbo land.
“If south east applies appropriate economic policies that will make the zone viable people of other zones would come to Igboland for business irrespective of which zone produces the president,” he stated.
