A clergyman based in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Prof. Simon Peter Igbadi, has accused Nigerian leaders of tribal and religious sentiments, adding that the country’s political leaders are not leading by examples.
According to the cleric, what we are seeing with Nigerian leaders today is that if you do not belong to their religion, tribe and political party, you are nobody in the society.
Igbadi, who spoke to Peoples Daily correspondent on the state of the nation during the concluded Christmas Ceremony in Gwagwalada, has accused political leaders of corruption.
He expressed with dismay that Pastors and spiritual leaders of Islam were not left out in the area of corruption which had eaten deep into the fabric of our society.
He then lampooned the Federal legislators for their lackadaisical attitude towards the development of the country, urging them to checkmate the activities of the Executive, as well as the judiciary for proper accountability.
While fielding questions from newsmen on the security challenges facing the country, Prof. Igbadi said the Federal Government, as well as the security agencies had failed to secure problem, faced by Nigerians for so long now.
The cleric, however, advised the Christians to always accumulate the lifestyle of Jesus Christ, and called on both Muslims and Christians to live in Peace.
