A non governmental organization known as ‘Project-Trust’ with support from MacArthur foundation, organised a one day town hall awareness campaign with community members on community engagement and participation in project execution.
Speaking during the meeting, the CODE State Support Officer, comrade Adam Sulaiman said, the sensitization meeting comprised the representatives of related ministries, agencies and community based organisations from various communities across the 27 local government areas in Jigawa.
According to him, the objectives of the town hall meeting is to increase awareness among citizens about constituency projects and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) funding to foster community participation and engagement in local development initiatives.
He maintained that, the meeting also advocated for transparency and accountability in developmental projects, including the implementation of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, 2018, to ensure equitable access to resources and services for all members of society.
Comrade Adam who explained that, ProjectTrust is CODE’s initiative aimed at mobilizing Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) through the formation of a Community of Practice (CoP), focused on enhancing social accountability processes and advocate for transparency and accountability in six states.
