Radda Begins Construction of 20 Township Roads in Malumfashi at N10.2bn

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has flagged off the construction of 20 township roads covering 10.7 kilometres and installation of solar-powered street light in Malumfashi.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Radda described the N10.2 billion road project as a strategic investment to improve transportation, expand economic opportunities, and enhance the quality of life of residents.

“This project goes beyond road construction. It is a strategic investment in the future of our communities by improving mobility, supporting businesses, and creating an environment where development can flourish,” he said.

Radda said quality roads are critical to expanding commerce, improving access to healthcare and education, strengthening security, and connecting communities to economic opportunities.

He noted that the Malumfashi project is part of his administration’s broader urban renewal programme designed to modernise towns across the state and ensure balanced development.

According to him, the roads will reduce travel time, ease traffic congestion, and provide safer access to residential areas, markets, schools, and healthcare facilities.

The solar-powered street lights, he added, will improve security, extend business hours, and enhance the aesthetics of the township.

The governor further stated that the project would stimulate economic activities, create jobs for youths, support local businesses, and increase property values.

He commended the Ministry of Works for its commitment and urged the construction company, Mothercat Limited, to adhere strictly to specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.

“This project belongs to you. Its successful completion will require your support and ownership,” he said.

He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue investing in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and youth empowerment under the Building Your Future agenda.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Hon. Sani Magaji Ingawa, said the project demonstrates the governor’s commitment to delivering durable infrastructure that promotes economic growth and improves living standards.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government, Hon. Muntari Abdullahi, described the intervention as a milestone that will boost mobility, security, and commerce in the area, and pledged the community’s support for the successful execution of the project.
