The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Kano state office, Amb. Zango Abdu could not hold his tears over the death of his Administive Secretary, Hauwa Aliyu Kangiwa.
The staff of the Kano office of INEC were also in tears at the emotional press conference, chaired by the REC to announce the passing of late Kangiwa on Monday.
PEOPLES DAILY correspondent, who was attended the press conference, observed that the REC bursted into tears immediately after delivering his remarks.
Other staff and officials of the INEC office could not hold their tears, especially when the REC was showering encomium on the deceased, who died on Saturday after intermittent illness.
Speaking at the press briefing, Amb. Zango said late Kangiwa died at about 9:00pm on Saturday.
He described Mrs. Kangiwa as a trained and experienced lawyer, an accomplished administrator whose career in the Commission was distinguished by professionalism, humility, and a deep sense of commitment to service.
He stated that the deceased previously served as the Administrative Secretary, INEC Sokoto State Office, before she was recently transferred to the Kano State Office, where she continued to discharge her duties with dedication and grace until her demise.
“Throughout her years of service, Mrs. Kangiwa was admired for her kindness, modesty, and strong sense of faith, which guided her interactions with colleagues and the public alike. She was a source of inspiration to many, exemplifying integrity, compassion, and devotion to duty.
“ She has since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites, and the Commission joins her family, friends, and colleagues in mourning her passing while celebrating her life of service, character, and faith.
“Her death is a great loss to the Commission and to all who had the privilege of working with her,”
“The entire INEC family in Kano State and across the nation mourns her passing and celebrates her life of honour and selfless service.
“The Commission extends its heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues, and prays that Almighty Allah (SWT) grants her Aljannatul Firdaus and gives her loved ones the fortitude to bear this painful loss,” he said.
