Recalcitrant members remain expelled – Dr Fasehun

The National President of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), Dr Fredrick Fasehun has said that recalcitrant members of his party has been expelled stressing that no amount of plodding and pleading will suede him to have a rethink on his decision.

He made the decision public when he paid an official visit to the party’s Lagos secretariat in Ikeja on his return from Abuja where the NEC meeting held.

Addressing a cross section of his party faithful, Dr Fasehun who was in his sweet elements, said that he sees the expulsion of those he regarded as retrogressive members of his party as a good radiance to a bad rubbish, stressing that all that transpired at the NEC meeting was an act of God.

Speaking further, he said the members should roll out drums in celebration because the clandestine plot of some disgruntled members to torpedo the hierarchy of the party and to cause disaffection among party members has been foiled by the grace of God informing that with recent development, those who belong to his side of the divide, could safely be referred to as the true members of the party legally

His words, “Thank God the party’s registration certificate is securely in my possession and what that translate to mean is that those of you with me are the authentic members of this noble party and let me reiterate once again that no matter the pleadings from whatever quarters about those we have expelled will make me renege on the collective decision. I think we have had enough of their nuisance value”

On his party preparedness given the non visibility of structures on the ground as obtained in other formidable parties, the founder of the outlawed Odua Peoples Congress, said it will be nonsensical of any one to allude that the UPN has no visible structures on the ground. He however assured that skeptics will be shocked out of their shells when the results of the forth-coming 2015 elections begins to trickle in

In his contribution, the Lagos State Chairman of the party, Hon Femi Ikuomola admonished members to uphold and abide by the constitution of the party, stressing that as a party that revolves on the golden ideals of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, they should be seen always as people who are disciplined and above common pettiness that are the trademark of most parties in Nigeria.

“We are the cynosure of other parties and whatever character we exhibit or seen to be exhibiting, will go a long way in determining if in the real sense we are truly the democrats that we portray in the eyes of the electorates” he intoned.
