Reckless driver kills 2 varsity students in Edo

A reckless driver (name withheld) has crushed two students of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo state to death The incident occurred within the main campus of the institution on Wednesday.
It was gathered that some students had boarded an 18-seater bus, which operated as a private campus shuttle.
According to a credible source in the university, the shuttle which had a break failure, somersaulted few minutes after it left the bus park near the school gate at about 7am on Wednesday.
The accident left one Ebere, said to be a 300-level student of the Faculty of Education, dead immediately, while another student died later in a hospital.
The remaining 16 passengers and the driver were said to have sustained varying degrees of injuries.
It was learnt that some of them in critical conditions were taken to the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
The incident has thrown the entire university into mourning, while students of the Faculty of Education on Thursday abandoned their classes in honour of their departed colleague.
Confirming the incident, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Edward Aihevba, stated that he did not have any report bothering on fatality.
He said: “there were several casualties that were rushed to the hospital. For now, I do not have any confirmation of any death.”
The spokesman for the university said an investigative committee had been set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
