There is sigh of relief for vulnerable and indigent residents, as FCT Administration through the Social Development Secretariat (SDS) doled out palliatives to them.
In his address, the Mandate Secretary of the Social Development Secretariat, Hon. Ibrahim Aminu, said the distribution is aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by these groups amid ongoing economic reforms.
Aminu reaffirmed the dedication of the FCT Administration to making a positive impact in the lives of those in need.
“We are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of the vulnerable, the indigent, and other groups in this category in order to make life more meaningful to them”, he stated.
However, acknowledging the limitations of the distribution, the Secretary assured that efforts would continue to reach more individuals in future rounds.
His words: “While acknowledging the fact that the palliatives might not be able to get to every single individual, home, or group that requires the assistance, we wish to state and assure unequivocally that we will continue to do our best.”
He therefore urged the community to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the FCT Ministers, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and Dr. Mariya Mahmoud to succeed.
He adds:“I want to use this medium to ask those of you here today to continue to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of the FCT and Minister of State, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, respectively, as they work round the clock to ensure that the current reforms being undertaken ultimately benefits the masses and ordinary Nigerians.”
He emphasized the commitment of the FCT Ministers through the Social Development Secretariat to protect and advocate for children and vulnerable groups.
According to him: “Let me also assure you that the Minister of the FCT and Minister of State, FCT, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and Dr. Mariya Mahmoud respectively, through the Social Development Secretariat are committed to providing a nurturing environment, protecting rights and advocacy for Children and other vulnerable groups in the FCT.
“Overseeing important social imperatives and poverty alleviation programs for vulnerable and disadvantaged groups and communities.
“Promoting Arts, Culture, Tourism and Sports activities within the territory as well as such other functions as are incidental to the furtherance of above objectives.”
In their separate responses, the beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the support, hopeful that the ongoing efforts would continue to address their needs and improve their living conditions.
