Renewed Hope Initiative fetes vulnerable women in Mararaba

In continuation of the Nigeria’s first Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative towards the vulnerable persons in the country, no fewer than 50 women have benefited from its food distribution and empowerment intervention, in Mararaba, a densely populated town, near Abuja, the nation’s capital city.
Distributing the food items mainly Spaghetti, Semovita, Macaroni, the FCT Coordinator of the Initiative, Hon. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, said the Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu was supporting the women with these food items in addition to some empowerment, because she believes that no hunger, no anger.
Benjamins-Laniyi, who is also the Mandate Secretary, FCT Women Affairs Secretariat (WAS), added that Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s message to every moman is to be hardworking, patient and peaceful.
A statement from Deputy Director/ Head, Public Relations Department of WAS, Josie Mudasiru, disclosed that Benjamins-Laniyi was there to encourage them by donating a grinding machine and food items.
The statement quoted the WAS Secretary saying: “You are all good examples of what a Woman should be. You are not a burden to Sarkin Aska ( King of Traditional Barbers) and your husbands. You are contributing to your household by ensuring that you are working.”
According to the statement, in a related development, Benjamins-Laniyi, also paid a visit to a vulnerable community in Garki village of FCT, in fulfillment to a promise made to Ramatu Garki, who was one of the women that was recognized during the 2024 International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration.
She said:”The people of FCT are so blessed to have H.E. Barr. Nyesom Wike as Honorable Minister and Dr. Mariya Mahmud as Honourable Minister of State as the dynamic duo are attracting a lot of goodwill and development to the FCT.
“No woman will be left behind, because the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike established for the very first time in the history of FCT, a Secretariat for women, because of his passion for the empowerment of women and children.”
It added that Hajiya Ramatu Garki and her household even though from a humble background are hardworking, and have engaged in various forms of trade to feed, clothe and educate their children.
Responding on behalf of the community, Ramatu Garki, who spoke in Hausa appreciated The First Lady and the FCT Administration for coming to their aid.
She therefore prayed for the continuous success of the administration.
On her part, the South East Coordinator, Igbo women FCT, Dame Ann Francisca Nosike, appreciated the kind gesture of the Renewed Hope Initiative and the FCT Minister, and expressed the desire of the people to see their Minister, in order to appreciate his efforts so far in the FCT.
