A retired chief research officer of the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NRDC), Mr. Emmanuel Ayodele, has called on civil servants in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to remain dedicated and disciplined to their duties, at their respective public institutions in the FCT, for effective service delivery.

Ayodele, who made the call in an interview with Peoples Daily during the launching of his book entitled: “USi to USi” (a glorious journey) in Gwagwalada, also advised them and politicians as well as political appointees to shun corruption while discharging their functions.

He advised the civil servants to deem it necessary to guide the political office holders on the rules and regulations of civil service for the sake of probity and accountability.

While urging senior civil servants in the system to always provide an enabling environment for the junior workers to boost their morale at work, he however, appealed to those who have attained the age of retirement to leave, so as to pave way for the young ones.

The retired researcher also called on government at all levels to endeavour to ensure prompt payment of the salaries of civil servants, to enable them cope with basic necessities of life.
