Some residents of zuba in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have blasted the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) over the epileptic electricity supply in Zuba Community.
The residents said the officers in charge of AEDC in Zuba were interested in collecting money from the people, instead of providing electricity in the area.
Mr. Chukwudi Ogbonna, a businessman in Zuba, lamented that the situation of electricity supply in Zuba has become unbearable because the officers in charge of electricity had failed the consumers woefully.
Ogbonna further lamented that consumers go through hardship on daily basis in Zuba community as a result of absence of electricity supply.
Mrs. Chiyere Amadi, a shop owner at zuba international market had alarmed at the exorbitant money collected by the officers in charge of electricity in Zuba without light.
Amadi accused the officers of Zuba AEDC of failing to provide electricity supply to the residents perpetually in order to boost socio-economic activities in Zuba.
Mallam mamman Yakubu, a business tycoon in Zuba, expressed sadness the manner at which the officers of AEDC in Zuba extorted money from the consumers without rendering services to them.
According to Yakubu, these officers are extorting Zuba residents heavily whenever they go to their compound to install the prepaid meter.
Reacting to the ugly situation, one of the community leaders in Zuba who did not want his name to be mentioned in print, also complained of alleged extortion from technicians to install prepaid electricity meters in houses.
