Residents panic over ‘unrest’ at Durumi IDPs camp

Abuja residents were thrown into panic mood yesterday evening rush-hour , following an unrest that purportedly erupted at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp IDP at Durumi area of Abuja, the nation’s capital city.

The situation also caused a serious commotion on major roads within the area and other adjoining public places including Area one under bridge and Area 3 under bridge, making the stretch seemingly no-go areas, due to the traffic built up in the busy part of the city.

Also, tension was heightened outside the area, as news about the incident filtered out.

However, it was gathered that the police responded swiftly to restore normalcy to the situation, while monitoring and surveillance continued on the scene.

Also, it was learnt that an investigation has been launched to ascertain the cost and effect of the brief unrest at the IDPs Camp, which triggered apprehension across city.
