Muktar Galadima, the former Director of the Department of Development Control at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has officially entered the race for the House of Representatives.
On Wednesday, the retired director purchased his nomination and expression of interest forms at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Jalingo, seeking to represent the Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency.
A town planner by profession, Galadima served as a director in the FCTA for nine years before his retirement.
To pursue this bid, he recently resigned from his role as the Senior Special Assistant on Development Control to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Galadima stated his campaign is a response to a “clarion call” from his constituents for superior representation in the National Assembly.
Speaking to journalists after picking up his forms, Galadima dismissed concerns regarding the influence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the region.
He emphasized that the power to elect leaders rests solely with the people, not the government in power.
“I am very confident that my victory will come 2027.
“I call on my people not to be disturbed, especially as they have the power to decide who gets what in the elections,” he stated.
The aspirant, who hails from Ibi Local Government Area, believes his extensive experience in urban planning and administration within the FCTA has equipped him with the necessary skills to drive development in his home constituency.
He noted that the overwhelming “support and goodwill” he has received since announcing his intentions indicates a strong desire for change in Wukari/Ibi.
Galadima’s entry into the race sets the stage for a high-stakes contest in Taraba State as the 2027 general elections approach.
