The traditional leaders and clergymen of Tiv extraction in Taraba state, have appealed to governor Agbu Kefas to fastrack the return of displaced Tiv population in the Southern part of the state, and ensure peace among ethnic groups, especially Jukun and Tiv.
Dr. David Gbar, Chairman Taraba state Tiv traditional council made the appeal over the weekend while speaking at the prayer session organized by the Taraba indigenous IDPs in Benue state.
Zaki Gbar expressed concern over the continues attacks and killings of returning IDPs in Taraba especially in the Wukari LGA, and called on governor Kefas to intervene for the interest of peace and development.
Chief Dr. Gbar who is also the (Ter Bali), decried the deplorable situation of his subjects at IDP camps since 2019, lamenting that the situation has created severe humanitarian crises characterized by high number of out-of-school children, lack of access to healthcare for children, women, and the elderly.
“We do not have any other home rather Taraba. We are origins of Taraba, not Benue state”.
