Rice farmers in Nigeria produce 9 million metric tons of rice paddy annually – RIFAN

Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) said since its members have been producing nine million metric tons of paddy annually since the coming of President Muhammadu Buhari.
RIFAN President, Alhaji Aminu Goronyo disclosed this during the
flag-off of sales of nine million metric tons of rice paddy to millers in kaduna yesterday.
According to him, rice farmers before the coming of the present admistration only produced two million metric tons of paddy annually.
Goronyo said, with nine million metric tons of annual rice production, Nigeria is now self sufficient in rice and almost ready for exportation.
He however, he said that the feat was achievable only due to the courage, commitment and patriotism of rice farmers who remained in the farm despite the security challenges faced in the farms.
