Salah Named CAF African Footballer Of The Year

Date:

Mohamed Salah has been named the CAF African Footballer of the Year 2018 and written history after defending his title.
The Liverpool and Egypt superstar beat his teammate Sadio Mane and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the prestigious title.
Salah has been breaking records left, right and centre since joining the Reds ahead of the 2017/18 season, finishing the Premier League campaign on 32 goals, which earned him the Premier League Golden Boot.
The 26-year-old can look back on a spectacular year filled with individual prizes after already being named BBC African Player of the Year, PFA Players’ Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year, Premier League Player of the Season and Liverpool Player of the Season.
In addition, he also lifted the famous FIFA Puskas award and finished in the third position in The Best FIFA Men’s Player accolade.
He took his fine form into the 2018/19 campaign, scoring 16 goals in 29 appearances so far. Salah also netted twice for Egypt at his country’s first appearance at a FIFA World Cup since 1990 and scored four goals in qualifiers for the 2019 AFCON this year.
Salah wrote his name into the history books after becoming the first Egyptian to win the CAF African Footballer of the Year award for a second time.
The Pharaohs’ only other winner of the award was Mahmoud El Khatib, who claimed it in 1983 but was only able to win it once.
