The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) as well as Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of the University of Abuja on Monday joined other Nigerian Universities to embark on seven days warning strike over the four months withheld salaries.
The Chairman of Joint Action Committee (JAC) for SSANU and NASU of the University of Abuja, Comrade Nurudeem Yusuf, who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen during a peaceful demonstration at the permanent site of the University, said the university workers would not be allowed to go to the offices.
He then appealed to the Federal Government to deem it necessary to release the earned allowances of the workers as well as improved funding for the Nigerian Universities.
He also called for the re-negotiation of 2009 Federal Government of Nigeria/SSANU agreement, as he said the Government had failed to meet up with the agreement for the past 14 years now.
