Sales attendant charged with misappropriating N232,350

A sales attendant, Chibueze Odo, yesterday appeared in a Senior Magistrates’ court in Wuse 2, Abuja, for allegedly misappropriatingN232, 350 belonging to a businessman.

Odo, 19, who resides at No. 52, Younde Street Wuse, Zone 6, Abuja,is charged with misappropriation, which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Abdullahi Adamu, told the court that on May 8,at about 12.10 p.m., one Anayo Odo of No.52, Younde Street, Wuse, Zone 6, lodged a report at Zone 3 Police Station. Adamu informed the court that the complainant stocked his shop at Wuse Market with goods valued at N532, 350and entrusted same to the accused.

The prosecutor told the court that the accused misappropriatedN232, 350 from the sales.

Adamu said the offence contravened Section 307 of the Penal Code, which prescribes two years in jail, fine or both for an offender.

The prosecutor prayed the court to grant him a date to open his case and produce witnesses.

Counsel to the accused, Mr. Chimeze Adonu prayed the court to granthis client bail on liberal terms.

The magistrate, Mr. Christopher Oba, admitted him to bail in the sum ofN500, 000 and a surety in like sum.

He ordered that the surety must be someone with reliable source oflivelihood.

Oba also ordered that the surety must be resident within thecourt’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case until June 23 for hearing. (NAN)
