The Senate has urged President Bola Tinubu to dismiss the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Hussaini Magaji over alleged financial mismanagement and repeated failure to honour Senate invitations.
The Senate on Thursday, invited the President’s economic team, led by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, for discussions on the state of the economy and the 2026 budget defence.
However, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa (Niger East), in his opening remarks, questioned the absence of the CAC Registrar-General. He noted that while the Finance Minister, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu, the Chairman of the Revenue Service, Zack Adedeji, Permanent Secretaries and other top officials honoured the invitation, the CAC boss did not.
The committee recalled that since 2023, the Registrar-General had consistently ignored invitations to address alleged financial infractions.
“We had earlier warned that we might issue a warrant of arrest against the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission over issues relating to revenue and remittances. This is now the second time,” the committee chairman said.
He added that the Registrar-General had repeatedly refused to respond to invitations and summons from the committee, despite its constitutional mandate.
