A Coalition of civil society organisations for good governance in Nigeria, has called on the Inspector-General of Police, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, the Chief of Air Staff to arrest Omoyele Sowore for undermining national security.
The Director of program, Johnson Micheal in a rally in Abuja, he commended the President for working tirelessly to end insecurity, and Nigeria is winning the war against insecurity.
He demanded that there should be an end to politicisation of insecurity, adding that it is not a game for cheap popularity, lives are at stake.
He emphasized that if Professor Pat Utomi could appear before the appropriate authorities, if coup plotters have stood before the law, if SERAP has responded to legal processes, adding that Sowore is not above the law.
He demanded that he should appear before a competent court and answer the charges levelled against him.
According to him, Sowore does not have a monopoly on public protest, he does not own the streets of Nigeria.
He noted that Court premises must not be turned into arenas for political confrontation or activities capable of disrupting judicial proceedings.
He stated that if Sowore and his supporters mobilise protests within or around court premises, the group reserve the right to organise peaceful and lawful demonstrations in response.
He urged Nigerians to unite against insecurity, together for a safe, peaceful, and prosperous country.
He mentions that the new minimum wage will be implemented next year by Mr. President, do not distract him.
“That is why we call on the Inspector-General of Police, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, the Director-General of the Department of State Services, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to act now.
“Arrest Omoyele Sowore for undermining national security. If Professor Pat Utomi could appear before the appropriate authorities, if coup plotters have stood before the law, if SERAP has responded to legal processes, then Sowore is not above the law, let him appear before a competent court and answer the charges levelled against him.

“Should Sowore and his supporters mobilise protests within or around court premises, we reserve the right to organise peaceful and lawful demonstrations in response. We will stand there peacefully, lawfully, and firmly for the Nigeria we believe in,” he noted .
