The Emir of Shinkafi in Zamfara State, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammadu Makwahe, has commended the Executive Secretary of the Solid Mineral Development Fund (SMDF), Hajiya Fatima Umar Shinkafi, for her condolence and sympathy visit to her hometown, Shinkafi Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking during the visit at the Emir’s palace, Hajiya Fatima Umar Shinkafi said she was in Shinkafi to commiserate with families affected by banditry, particularly residents of remote villages vulnerable to attacks.
She explained that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is making concerted efforts to ensure the protection of lives and property in Shinkafi and across Zamfara State, noting that necessary measures have already been put in place.
Shinkafi described the loss of innocent lives as a significant setback to the economic growth of Shinkafi Local Government Area, which has, for over a century, served as a commercial hub linking Sokoto, Katsina, and Zamfara states.
In his response, the Emir, Alhaji Muhammadu Makwahe, praised the SMDF boss for the visit, stating that her presence demonstrated genuine concern for her people and assured them of representation at the federal level.
“Your visit to Shinkafi, though your hometown, shows great concern for your people and assures us that we have a voice at the federal government level,” he said.
The monarch added that the emirate and the people of Shinkafi would continue to take pride in her, noting that her visit rekindles memories of her late father, Umaru Aliyu Shinkafi, whose legacy remains widely respected across the state and the nation.
“Your humility, compassion, and dedication will continue to strengthen the bond between you and the people. From elders to youths, women groups, and students, we have witnessed overwhelming excitement across the town in welcoming you home,” the Emir added.
Thousands of supporters, family members, traditional title holders, respected Islamic scholars, students, and well-wishers thronged the streets to welcome Hajiya Fatima Umar Shinkafi.
Many residents described the reception as a powerful demonstration of unity, loyalty, and confidence in her leadership. They noted that the turnout underscores her enduring political relevance and positions her as a beacon of hope for the people of Shinkafi and beyond.
Observers say her growing influence and widespread acceptance continue to reinforce her standing as a leader whose impact is deeply felt across Zamfara State.
