Date:

From Ibrahim sidi Muh’d, Gusau

In less than one week after dropping the membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the Chairman Zamfara State Councillors Forum in company of his counterpart representing Tudun Wada ward, six more councillors yesterday have followed suit.

While receiving the defected councillors, the Chairman Zamfara State Councillors Forum (ZCF), Nasir Ibrahim Dagaji, challenged Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar to tender his resignation as Chief Security Officer of the state being what he promised during his campaign days if he failed to serve the best interest of the people of the state.

“I can recall Governor Yari had promised in the name of Almighty Allah during campaign days, that he would voluntarily resign his position if he fails to deliver in the best interest of the people across the state, now that 90% of them are crying for hunger, high rate of unemployment and formidable rate of crime”, Dagaji stressed.

He presented the defectors at the PDP state headquarters in Gusau, the state capital, raising the hands of Babangida Bala Mayanci, Councillor representing Mayanci ward under Maru local government area, Yakubu Muhammad Magaji of Ruwan Doruwa ward from the same Council.

Others include, Sani Gado representing Dangulbi ward also under Maru local government area, Abubakar Bakwai of Tsafe ward, Tsafe local government council. Others were, Sani Iliyasu representing Maradun North, Maradun local government and Mu’azu Muhammad representing Birnin Tudu ward under Gummi local government councils respectively.

It would be recalled, the defected councillors forum chairman, Nasir Ibrahim Dagaji, had last week informed during his formal declaration that, the entire 147 councillors of the state were expected to drop their membership with the ruling APC for the PDP, accusing the ruling party of denying all local government councils chairmen and their councillors constitutional rights to serve their people.
