The Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has extended warm felicitations to children across Sokoto State and Nigeria on the occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
Hon. Dan’iya described children as the foundation of the nation’s future and the greatest asset for sustainable development, stressing that every responsible society must prioritize the protection, education, health, and moral upbringing of its younger generation.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Sokoto to commemorate the occasion, the ADC gubernatorial candidate called on children to remain focused on their education, respect their parents and teachers.
He also admonished them to embrace discipline, honesty, and hard work as guiding principles for a successful future.
According to him, “Children are not only the leaders of tomorrow; they are the hope of today.
“ The investment we make in their education, health, and welfare will determine the future strength, stability, and prosperity of our society.”
Hon. Dan’iya assured the people of Sokoto State that, if elected Governor in 2027, his administration would place the welfare of children and the development of the education sector at the center of government policies and programmes.
He stated that his administration would work towards providing free and accessible education from primary school to university level, while also upgrading learning environments across the state to meet global standards.
“We are committed to building a modern educational system that will compete favorably with global standards.
“Our schools will be equipped with improved infrastructure, qualified teachers, modern learning facilities, and a conducive environment that supports academic excellence,” he stated.
The ADC candidate further pledged to introduce E-Smart Education initiatives aimed at integrating digital technology into learning processes across schools in Sokoto State in order to prepare children for the demands of the modern world.
Hon. Dan’iya also emphasized the need to tackle the growing challenge of out-of-school children, promising that deliberate programmes and policies would be introduced to return thousands of children back to classrooms across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
He added that strategic collaborations with international development partners and foreign educational institutions would be pursued to strengthen the education and child development sectors in Sokoto State.
On healthcare, the governorship candidate promised to expand and improve child healthcare services across all the 23 Local Government Areas to ensure children have access to quality medical care and proper welfare support.
Speaking on insecurity, Hon. Dan’iya expressed concern over the impact of insecurity on school attendance and children’s safety, assuring residents that safeguarding lives and securing learning environments would remain a top priority under his leadership.
“No meaningful development can take place where children live in fear or are denied access to education because of insecurity. Protecting our children and ensuring safe schools will receive utmost attention under our administration,” he added.
He also called on parents and guardians to continue playing their vital roles in guiding, monitoring, and nurturing their children towards becoming responsible citizens capable of contributing positively to society.
Hon. Dan’iya wished all children in Sokoto State and across Nigeria a peaceful, joyful, and memorable Children’s Day celebration and prayed for a brighter future for every Nigerian child.
