The Chairman of Dange/Shuni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Magaji Bodai, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Prof. Dahiru Muhammad Shuni as the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education.
Speaking in Sokoto on Thursday, Bodai described the appointment as a demonstration of the President’s confidence in Prof. Shuni and the people of Sokoto State.
The former member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly expressed confidence that the new Executive Secretary would justify the trust placed in him by promoting mass literacy, adult education, and non-formal education across Nigeria.
“We are confident that the new appointee will justify the confidence reposed in him and, by extension, Sokoto State, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Bodai said.
He also acknowledged the contributions of All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, and Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, describing their support as instrumental in securing the appointment.
According to him, the people of Dange/Shuni remain grateful for the duo’s commitment to the development of the local government area.
LG Chairman Commends Free Fertiliser Distribution
Bodai also praised Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for allocating 3,600 bags of assorted fertilisers and other agricultural inputs to farmers in Dange/Shuni Local Government Area.
He said the items were distributed free of charge to genuine farmers across the area’s 11 political wards and 194 polling units to support agricultural production.
The council chairman commended the State Government’s Fertiliser Distribution Committee, led by Alhaji Nura Attajiri, Director-General of the Sokoto State Hisbah Board, for conducting the exercise transparently.
He disclosed that the local government constituted additional committees to ensure equitable distribution and directed members to carry out the assignment fairly so that only genuine farmers benefited.
Bodai also warned that any official found diverting or selling the farm inputs would be arrested and prosecuted.
He expressed satisfaction with the exercise, noting that no complaints had been received since the distribution began.
